Guidelines for presentations

The Organizers intend to bring out two separate volumes of the Acts. The first volume, to be published in 2007, will contain the set of main papers presented during the plenary sessions, constituting an up-to-date presentation of the most important discoveries made in Sudan in the past decade. Papers presented during the parallel after-lunch and afternoon sessions will be included in the second volume, planned for 2008.

 

MAIN PAPERS (first volume)

 

DEADLINE:

  • Please send in your article by OCTOBER 31, 2006.


TEXT:

  • up to 30 typescript pages (54,000 signs with spaces)

  • Microsoft RTF or Word documents are acceptable. If you are using MAC, please convert your text to PC, if possible.

  • Feel welcome to send a PDF file, if you think this will be helpful in our editing and typesetting work. Definitely send a PDF file, if you are using non-Latin characters or special characters that tend to be corrupted in the transfer process.

  • Please include any special fonts you may have used.

REFERENCES:

  • Footnotes should follow the California system, e.g.: (Micha³owski 1964: 235, Fig. 5)

  • All references should be listed alphabetically at the end of the text

  • Make sure that you have included author(s), title, date of publication, place of publication, editor if applicable, complete pagination.

  • Please refrain from using bibliographical abbreviations.

FIGURES:

  • 15 images, whether photos or drawings, or plans

  • maximum size to fit on A4 plates

  • all images submitted in JPEG or TIFF format on CD (or sent by mail)

  • resolution 300 dpi minimum

  • special illustrations: if you create a composite illustration (Illustrator, Photoshop etc.), make sure that we get the original version of each single image in JPEG/TIFF, as well as your composition, in case we need to recreate it in another software.

  • make sure you include appropriate scales, directions etc.

  • identify individual images with your name and sequential number, e.g. SMITH_01. This will be extremely helpful in the editing.

  • Include calls to illustrations in the text, e.g. [Fig. 3].

  • Provide captions for your illustrations, including credits where necessary.

Note: Color plates will be considered where necessary (e.g. painting, iconography). It is recommended, therefore, that you submit color images, if you so wish.

 

REGULAR PAPERS (second volume)

 

DEADLINE:

  • For the regular papers, the deadline is JANUARY 2, 2007.


TEXT:

  • up to 20 typescript pages (36,000 signs with spaces)

  • Microsoft RTF or Word documents are acceptable. If you are using MAC, please convert your text to PC, if possible.

  • Feel welcome to send a PDF file, if you think this will be helpful in our editing and typesetting work. Definitely send a PDF file, if you are using non-Latin characters or special characters that tend to be corrupted in the transfer process.
